Records document the trial and extradition to New Jersey of Bruno Richard Hauptmann on charges of kidnapping and murder of twenty-month old Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr. Records include official memoranda, correspondence and personal notes of the District Attorney's staff members; investigative reports of the New Jersey State Police, the New York City Police, and the United States Department of Justice; correspondence to and from agencies involved in the case; legal documents tracing the various court appearances and legal actions related to the issue of extradition; statements from witnesses; exhibits and items of evidence, some original material but primarily in the form of copies and receipts of transference to the New Jersey State Police or Attorney General; material relating to other suspects in the case, notably Isidor Fisch; testimony and statements of "expert witnesses" relating to handwriting analysis; photographs; and published and unpublished materials.
